Including a few rolls of 35mm and medium format film during your engagement session and wedding day is an artistic decision rooted in an appreciation for its timelessness as a medium. Film photography offers a certain wabi-sabi expression that digital formats can’t replicate. And while we’re on the subject of digital, hear me out: Let digital be what it is! Digital is awesome and beautiful in its range and capabilities. I don’t put film-emulating filters on my digital photos because digital is its own thing.
Another thing I love about film is that encourages patience and mindfulness, forcing me to slow down, get present, and consider the moment. Film is also moody and surprising and a little bit risky. It involves a lot of trust.
So let’s shoot film together! I typically shoot 2-5 rolls at a wedding, depending on the light. I develop with The Find Lab (they’re awesome). All of the photos on this page are film photos.
